Ion Generator Technology and Air Purification Working Principle

MAXMAC guides OEM customers in selecting and integrating the ideal ionization technology tailored to their specific operating environments.

Negative Ion Generators Working Principle

Negative ion generator modules use a high-voltage conversion circuit to raise a low DC input to a high negative DC voltage. At the emitter tip, the resulting electric field produces a corona discharge that releases electrons. These electrons are rapidly captured by oxygen molecules in the surrounding air, forming negative ions that disperse into the airflow. The module can be integrated with fans, filters, sensors, and embedded control systems according to the requirements of the final air-treatment product.

CUSTOMIZABLE IONIZER PLATFORM

Custom Ionizer Modules for OEM Product Integration

MAXMAC develops custom ionizer modules (custom ionizer module) around the actual control board, airflow structure, safety requirement, and production plan of the OEM product. Customers can start from an existing negative ion generator, plasma generator, or high-voltage pack, then customize the module for final equipment integration.

Voltage Platform

Most automotive and embedded ionizer applications operate on a standard DC 9–16V input, while high-voltage packs can be custom-engineered to match specific customer power architectures. Before finalizing the electrical design, MAXMAC thoroughly evaluates key parameters—including input voltage, current limits, standby power consumption, EMC compliance, and control-board compatibility—to ensure seamless system integration.

Ion Output and Ozone Target

Effective air treatment requires a precise balance between ion concentration and ozone suppression. MAXMAC collaborates closely with clients to define key operational parameters—including targeted negative or bipolar ion output and airflow velocity—ensuring maximum purification performance while strictly adhering to your product’s ozone limit requirements.

Hardwire / LIN Control

For simple devices, MAXMAC can provide EN control and DIG feedback. For automotive HVAC and vehicle projects, LIN communication can be supported for module control, sleep mode, running status, fault diagnosis, and system integration.

Diagnostic Feedback

Real-time diagnostic feedback allows the main control board to monitor module operation and immediately detect abnormal output, open circuits, short circuits, or communication status. This capability is essential for ensuring safety and long-term operating stability in demanding embedded applications.

OZONE & SAFETY

Negative Ion Generator Side Effects and Ozone Safety Control

Addressing industry concerns regarding excessive ozone emission, MAXMAC establishes low-ozone design as a strict manufacturing standard across all product lines. Through precision hardware circuitry and emitter optimization, every ionizer module produced by MAXMAC strictly adheres to the ozone concentration baseline of <0.05 PPM, fully complying with national standard testing requirements to deliver a pure air experience free of secondary pollution.

FAQS

Ionizer Module FAQ

What Is an Ion Generator or Air Ionizer Module?

An ion generator is an embedded air treatment component that uses a high-voltage circuit and emitter to release ions into airflow. An air ionizer module is the compact OEM component used to integrate this function into air purifiers, HVAC systems, vehicle cabins, fresh-air equipment, and home appliances.

What Is the Difference Between a Negative Ion Generator and a Bipolar Plasma Generator?

A negative ion generator mainly releases negative ions, while a bipolar plasma generator produces controlled positive and negative ions. The correct choice depends on product structure, airflow, ozone requirements, control method, target application, and the validation plan.

What Are the Benefits of a Negative Ion Generator?

Negative ion generators offer compact installation, low power consumption, flexible emitter placement, and easy integration with fans, filters, sensors, and control boards. Actual air-treatment performance depends on ion output, airflow, installation position, filtration, operating conditions, and system-level validation.

What Is the Difference Between an Ionizer and an Ozone Generator?

An ionizer is designed to release ions into airflow, while an ozone generator intentionally produces ozone as its primary output. Ionizer modules may produce trace ozone as a by-product, so emitter structure, voltage, airflow, and ozone validation must be carefully controlled. MAXMAC develops low-ozone ionizer modules for OEM applications.

Does a Negative Ion Generator Produce Ozone?

Ionizer modules may produce trace ozone depending on high-voltage design, emitter structure, airflow, material, and operating conditions. MAXMAC designs low-ozone ionizer modules and supports ozone testing. Several module specifications use ozone targets below 0.05 ppm, with some project limits reaching ≤0.01 ppm under stated conditions.

Can MAXMAC Customize an Ion Generator Circuit?

Yes. MAXMAC can customize power input, high-voltage output, EN control, DIG feedback, LIN communication, connector, harness, emitter structure, mounting design, and diagnostic logic according to OEM project requirements.

Where Are Ionizer Modules Used?

Ionizer modules are used in HVAC systems, automotive cabin air quality systems, air purifiers, fresh-air ventilation, home appliances, air conditioner purification modules, compact deodorization products, and hair dryer ionizer applications.

Can MAXMAC Support LIN Communication for Automotive Ionizer Modules?

Yes. MAXMAC has negative ion module designs that support LIN communication, including control command, sleep mode, running status, communication status, fault diagnosis, and automotive controller integration.

What Is the Minimum Order Quantity for Ionizer Modules?

The minimum order quantity for MAXMAC ionizer modules is 1,000 units. Specific pricing and production arrangements depend on the selected module, customization requirements, and annual purchase volume.

Can MAXMAC Provide Samples Before Mass Production?

Yes. MAXMAC can provide ionizer module samples for engineering evaluation, system integration, and performance validation before mass production. Sample availability and preparation time depend on the selected module and the required level of customization.
